Chad A. In this role, Dr. Perlyn will provide leadership in the development of the vision and strategic growth of the health system’s more than 250 employed physicians, 24 pediatric specialty practices and outpatient care centers.

Since joining Nicklaus Children’s Health System as a pediatric plastic surgeon in 2009, Dr. Perlyn has served in various leadership roles, including medical director of Surgical Services for Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, chief of the NCPS Section of Plastic Surgery and a member of the NCPS board of directors. Dr. Perlyn has also been an associate professor and chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Florida International University’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.

“Dr. Perlyn’s first-hand experience with leading a thriving medical practice at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, combined with his long-standing relationships with the hospital’s providers, staff and the community, positions him well to drive the mission and growth of NCPS,” said Matthew A. Love, president and CEO of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. “We are delighted Dr. Perlyn has accepted this role and look forward to his leadership and commitment to putting patients and families first.”

After receiving his undergraduate degree in English literature from Northwestern University, Dr. Perlyn attended medical school at the University of Miami where he graduated with honors. He completed his general surgery and plastic surgery residencies at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, one of the country’s oldest and most established plastic surgery training programs. During his residency, Dr. Perlyn was the recipient of an American College of Surgeons Fellowship, allowing him to spend three years at the University of Oxford in England completing a doctorate degree in craniofacial molecular biology. While at Oxford, Dr. Perlyn received several national and international awards. He went on to study craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery as a fellow under the tutelage of Dr. Jeffrey Marsh in St. Louis. As a Miami native, Dr. Perlyn enjoys being back in South Florida and working at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, which he credits with saving his little brother’s life in 1977.
